Critical Access & Rural Hospital
Health Information Technology (HIT) Assistance
Federal funding is available to help qualifying Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) and rural hospitals implement Electronic Health Records (EHR) and participate in the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs.
TennCare and Medicare will pay incentives to eligible hospitals when they adopt and demonstrate Meaningful Use of certified HIT.
Qualifying CAHs and rural hospitals are eligible to receive free assistance from the Tennessee Regional Extension Center (tnREC) in achieving Meaningful Use.
tnREC offers the following services free of charge:
- Onsite Meaningful Use Assessment
- Needs Assessment
- Incentive Payment Calculation
- HIT Project Plan and Timeline Development
- Call Center Technical Assistance
- Educational EHR Related Tools and Resources
- Health Information Exchange Facilitation
- Workforce Development Consultation
Additional fee-based EHR and Meaningful Use support services are also available from tnREC.
